Saddles, Bags, Etc.We carry everything from Brooks in our little shop in the old town in Stockholm. Saddles starting from B17 Standard to Swallow and now the new Imperial. We have a quite small shop, but we use almost one whole wall displaying saddles and bags. I can not say witch model is a bestseller this year, earlier it was the B17 Standard, but finding the right saddle for the right bicycle makes all models bestsellers. We also carry all Aged saddles, selling more of the B67 than the B17 and Flyer. I think the customer asking for a softer saddle sit more upright and therefore B67 is popular. Using old doors we display all bags, both Holdalls and Toolbags. Showing all the different colours and many customers long to match a bag with their new or old seat. The Barbican has become a big success. Many customers coming in dreaming of a Brooks messenger bag. A good birthday present. We sell and stock all grips, bar tape and trouser straps in all colors. Selling a lot of bar tape to retro bikes and road bikes, grips on standard bikes.

Why Brooks?Brooks stands for quality and comfort. Adding a leather seat to a bike makes your bike special and unique. A leather saddle will last longer than many riders. With the right maintenance you are sure to pass it through to younger generations. This picture of Martin is from the Medio Fondo 2007 i Stockholm. Like the L´Eroica some of us uses old bikes with matching clothes. Martins bike is an Swedish Crescent Sports Racer from 1930, single speed. The orange Brooks jersey was a perfect match.

Bicycles StockedWe focus on mostly three brands. Swedish made Skeppshult, using B66 on their Nature model, is our biggest selling brand. They have a wide range of models. Even though most models come with a gel or plastic saddle we add often a new Brooks saddle. Many customer want to add that little extra on their bike to make it more special to them. We also sell Brompton, the awarded foldable. B17 Special, new mudflap and grips are very common to add on these bikes. All in the same colour. We also sell bicyles from Pashley. The TSR-models and the Guv´Nor are equiped with Brooks; bag, saddle and grips; everybody ordering a TSR so far have bought a Swift or Swallow even though we have a B17 Special on our own bike. This year we have also started selling the danish NIHOLA transportbicycle. Wintertime we restore and sell old bicycles and many of these with a Brooks saddle. We offer and advise all customer to change to a leather seat. Plastic saddles break after some time, so having a Brooks helps this problem well.

Atmosphere, Location and PersonalityGamla Stans Cykel focuses on high end standard bicycles and parts from Swedish made Skeppshult, danish NIHOLA, english Brompton and Pashley, and ofcourse Brooks saddles. We focus on the a highend market, selling and repairing bicycles new as well as old and having the knowledge in old Swedish bicycles and parts. We are located in Gamla Stan, Old Town, in the center of Stockholm, Sweden, where we are the fourth owners of a shop going back to 1917. From 2004 owners are now father and son, Lars-Åke and Martin Fredberg. Lars-Åke (Brompton with B17 Special Made for Brompton) has been collecting old bicycles for 20 years and is one of the founders of the Swedish Veteran Bicycle Association. Martin (Brompton with B17 Special Titanium) also with the interest of old bicycles. Helping out in the family business are Lars-Åke's two younger sons Björn and Henrik. Björn (Brompton with Pro saddle) also making the homepage for the shop. Henrik (singlespeed with Swift) is the photografer in the family taking pictures for the calender we make every year. Kerstin, wife of Lars-Åke's and mother of the three boys is a great supporter too of the company and is of course a great help in all matters.
