My weekly ride round Sutton Coldfield turned into a Brooks tutorial this weekend when I parked my Bianchi against a shop wall and popped in for a some liquid refreshment. I dont like to spoil the lines of this great bike with cages etc so find myself having to visit newsagents for the odd can of pop. I always rush in and out as I dont ever lock the bike (added weight and all that) but in the 60 or so seconds I left it yesterday was astonished by what I came back out to. Tourers, with the same strategy in mind, had obviously clocked the machine, with the Swallow perched on top, and had descended upon the bike. I spent the next hour and a half explaining the complexities of the structure of the saddle, who was involved in its manufacture, how long the processes take etc. etc. to an ever increasing and captivated audience. Where can I get one? was muted time and again, and I think Raleigh and CTC may very well be inundated with calls from the West Midlands. My apologies do go out to Jolly however. After taking the initiative to ride to a bank, return with £200 and then offer to sort you out, right here and now, I had to decline. Raleigh and CTC offer these saddles strictly first come, first served and I am sure Jolly and his friends will have lit the lines up first thing this morning. A.R.H.
